What is he tryin to say? does he like me?

ok there's this guy. i like him a lot and I'm confused in whether he likes me. he calls my name a lot to get my attention. he looks at me for quite a long time when he talks to my group of friends. he told me once "it's good to see you". his attitude is always nice to me. but other times, when he ignores me too and never says hello. he only talks to me when I talk to my group of friends when he's present too. he compliments me lke i've lost weight and my hair is looking nice. are they signs that he knows I like him, and that he's just being nice to me. after all, sometimes he does ignore me for no apparent reason when he wants to. another thing, there's another girl, i dont know if she likes him or he likes her. she's been really spiteful to me when we're at present together, when I'm not around, he flirts with her but she ignores him but when she's with her friends she talks about him a lot. my friend was pissed off with him and told her and she replied "but sometimes he's nice person" and compliments him. there was an event and the three of us were there and I wanted to polish some gles and she said spitefully, "i'll polish them" then he jumped in and smiled and said to her "well, ur not polishing anyway, so why can't she polish them. then he was helping me with the boxes and dropped them and she said "don't help him" as a joke and he said "they're only boxes". I was singing and she was singing and i said to her "I can sing better than you" as a joke and he went up to her and whispered. "is it?" i know this cos my friend were behind them. he bought me a drink andhe didn't have change and she said "here have a five pound note" and he told her to shut up i think as a joke. then behind my back, he bought her one too. i know this cos my friend told me when I wasn't around them. what is he trying to say?
