Can someone answer this Facebook Question please?

I added my clmate on facebook, And she hasnt accepted yet because I still cant view her profile. But a while ago, I saw her on my homepage. I clicked on her profile, but its still the same. "Friend Request Sent" its been like that for like a week. How can someone who is not yet my friend appear on my homepage?
