Why did my fishtank water turn a copper colour?

i change the water, it turns back to a copper colour after a few days, its really horrible.... I have plastic ornaments in there, and one peice of bog wood that i got from a fish pet shop. i have an oxidizing plant also and another plant which im nto sure what it is but my friend has given it to me from her tank, and her tank is fine...
