When does baby drop ?

Your baby can drop at any time. It doesn't necessarily mean impending labor. As long as you are not contracting or dilating, you're okay. I'm due Sept 10 and mine has dropped further and further but he isn't yet engaged. The only way to tell if he is, would be by ultrasound. They said he's not in there just yet, but right above my cervix. This is my 5th. With my first, he dropped RIGHT before labor. Second, never completely dropped. I had to push her down before I could actually start pushing her out. Third and fourth didn't until they broke my water. So, you never know. And, yes the swelling of your crotch is natural. With my last I thought she was falling out because the pressure was SO bad. Your doctor can give you more definite answers, but I think you're okay.
