Is a womans place in the kitchen and bedroom?

Why are women allowed to work and order men around? I was raised that the man is king and women don't have the intellect to make informed decisions, too many emotions involved. In the past women stayed home and provided for the cooking, cleaning and for her mans ual needs. What happened?
